Reporting to a Construction Manager or Director, contracts managers are usually responsible for more than one contract at any given time but may just take responsibility for one large project. Often a contracts manager job will include involvement in securing the business at the outset.

Those in contracts manager jobs will typically liaise closely with the “client” and also all the design team to ensure the project is progressing according to the plans, timescales and budget. Projects may range from housing regeneration right through to commercial property development.

Contracts managers will have previously worked in a site manager capacity and therefore it's a logical step up for them to support the site manager with regards to the management of sub-contractors and also providing advice the site team about health and safety.
