trades jobs

The energy market has a significant need for qualified and technical trades people both on and offshore in the UK. There is enormous demand for people who have served apprenticeships in trade jobs or broken into the market from another industry.

There are a number of fabrication and production workshops and machine shops that are tasked with building up the equipment designed, be it subsea wellheads, downhole tools or steel frames and walkways.

Highly skilled individuals sought for trades jobs in the oil industry

All of these places need highly skilled welders, fabricators, engineering technicians and machinists to convert the raw materials into the end product. This is a highly skilled area of engineering where candidates can find a diverse career path working on a variety of equipment.

There is the opportunity to earn excellent remuneration either by working shifts onshore or working offshore in a rotational role. Many of these positions encompass on and offshore requirements as well as the possibility to travel globally with the equipment for set-up and operation in the field.

Apprenticeships available to kickstart your trades career

This career path tends to suit people with an HM Forces background. Similarities can be found in working away from home undertaking highly specialised engineering work. There are apprenticeships available with some companies that offer a day release college course system to allow candidates to obtain their HNC and HND in a specific area.

Due to the nature of the skills shortage in the industry, many employers also recognise the value of transferring good skills over from other industries.
