Engineering background in demand for renewable jobs
Consulting Engineers are increasingly looking for skilled Engineers to work on Feasibility Studies and the Design of Renewable Power Generation Facilities. They look for Engineers from Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering backgrounds.
Candidates with experience in Design Engineering can use their already developed skills on Renewable Energy projects. Often organisations require Civil Engineers to design the access roads into isolated Power Plants and provide Structural Engineering skills relating to construction of Wind Turbines.
Engineers from an Electrical background can use their knowledge on Grid Connections and the Transmission of Electricity while mechanical engineers with knowledge of Turbine and Boilers will use their skills in the Renewable Power Sector.
Environmental and construction experience for renewable energy jobs
Candidates from an Environmental background also have appropriate skills that Consulting Engineers could use. Prior to building Renewable Power Plants extensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Feasibility Studies are required.
Candidates with experience in completing EIAs and Wind Studies experience and knowledge of software such as WindPro, Wasp and WindFarm will be in great demand. Construction experience in the Renewable Power Sector or operations experience is also highly desirable.
