A related degree or equivalent is often sought and knowledge of Building Regulations, CIBSE and IEE guidelines, statutory service providers procedures and CDM Regulations are all beneficial skills, as is a good grasp of software design skills.
Building control surveyors carry out comprehensive site inspection checks and plan examinations to establish that construction work adheres to building regulations. Associate membership level or above in ABEng, RICS or an equivalent in Building Control is expected and prior experience is an advantage.
