contaminated land jobs
You will experience the interface between contaminated land and the wider development issues of brownfield sites whilst managing geo-environmental site investigations, groundwater risk assessments and soil and groundwater sampling.
Assessing contaminated land jobs
For contaminated land jobs, you will need knowledge of the CLEA framework, P20 methodologies and human health issues will be used and built on. A BSc level qualification in an environmental science/engineering discipline is the normal educational requirement.
You must have experience supervising geo-environmental site investigations, scheduling soil and groundwater analysis as well as doing risk assessments to CLEA and P20 guidelines.
As an environmental consultant or geologist, you will be a recent graduate or have some experience working in the contaminated land field, working with a range of public and private sector clients on a variety of projects.
Report drafting and risk assessment evaluation
You will prepare designs, reports and contracts, undertake site work and you may also be involved in liaison with Regulators and Clients, working alongside other UK Contaminated Land Groups.
A first degree in a relevant technical degree eg chemistry, civil engineering, geology or environmental science. In some cases, a second degree MSc in hydrogeology, contaminated land and geotechnics is desirable. Knowledge of quantitative risk assessment techniques such as Groundwater Risk Assessment, CLEA, RBCA, Consim are an advantage.
