Health & Safety Workers in Demand in Edinburgh
The health & safety industry in Scotland is suffering from a shortage of experienced professionals, says local recruitment consultancy Hays Health & Safety. In order to provide a better local service and meet an increased demand for health & safety workers in the area, the UK’s leading specialist recruitment consultancy will be holding an open day on Monday 28th July at its office on Charlotte Square in Edinburgh.
Despite the current doom and gloom, projects currently underway in the area include the Edinburgh Tram Project which, combined with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, will generate a lot of jobs for health & safety workers in the construction industry. There are also further opportunities across a wide range of other sectors, including finance and banking in Edinburgh and the petrochemical, oil and gas industries in Aberdeen. Health & safety managers, advisors and CDM coordinators are all particularly sought after.
Carol Fyfe, Regional Manager at Hays Health & Safety, comments: ‘’There is currently a shortage of skilled candidates, which means that workers who possess experience in health & safety are in high demand and can command good salaries and benefits. The open day will offer workers the opportunity to find out about work is available, what rates they can expect and what local employers are looking for. Specialist consultants will be on hand to provide expert career advice, as well as invaluable CV and interview tips.’’
