The battle of the Accountants
Twenty-eight teams of Accountants in the West Midlands battled it out in a 5-a-side football tournament on Sunday, at ‘Goals’ Soccer Centre in Birmingham.
The annual event sponsored by Hays Accountancy and Finance is organised by the Birmingham Chartered Accountants Student Society, with key accountancy firms taking part every year. Companies involved included; Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Deloitte, PKF, Baker Tilly, RSM Bentley Jennison and many other prestigious firms in across the West Midlands.
The final saw PWC and PKF thrash it out for the title, with PKF scoring the winning goal, taking the finishing score to 2-1. The winner of the ‘Man of the tournament’ title went to Ollie Shaw from PKF, who took home a double victory.
Anthony Thomas, Assistant manager at Deloitte was the lucky winner of the Hays Accountancy & Finance draw, and went home with John Lewis vouchers worth £100.
The day proved to be highly opportunistic for accountants across different firms, enabling them to meet and compete with people in the same field, in an exciting and challenging environment.
Hardeep Lall, Regional Director of Hays Senior Finance said: "The day was a huge success and the turn out was phenomenal. It was a great way to bring together accountants across the Midlands."
