Benefits of social care temporary work

Temporary work is the career choice for many individuals as well as the ideal solutions for those who are between jobs, travelling or who simply want short-term projects. Consider the advantages...

Competitive rates of pay

The market for temporary social work and social care professionals is highly competitive. As a result, experienced, flexible individuals with initiative, who are available to start work at short notice, will always be in demand. Your Hays Social Care recruitment consultant will work to secure the best possible rate of pay for every assignment you undertake and our daily payroll system will ensure that you are paid accurately and on time. In addition, you may be eligible to work as a limited company which may reduce your tax bill to help maximise your income.

Holiday pay

Your holiday pay equates to four weeks paid holiday per year. This is usually 20 days pro rata for those who work full time hours. Anyone working as a limited company will not be eligible to claim holiday pay as it is already included in your pay rate. It is your responsibility to ensure that you book holidays on days that are acceptable to our client.

Because we realise that many people choose temporary work for the flexibility it offers, we will pay your holiday pay weekly and not in arrears which means that you can take your holiday whenever you choose and make the most of any time between assignments. Please be sure to advise your recruitment consultant well in advance if you wish to take holiday time during an assignment.

Referral bonus

Why not refer a friend or colleague to Hays Social Care and earn some extra cash. We’ll pay you £225 for each Qualified Social Work professional that you refer and we’ll even give your friend £50. Money is paid once the referred person completes 120 hours work through Hays Social Care. Speak to your consultant for full terms and conditions of this offer and for details of the Referral Bonus that we offer to Social Care Workers.

Personal support

There are certain times when we all need a little extra support and guidance in our personal or professional lives. As a Hays Social Care temporary worker you will have access to our “Support Line” with a qualified counsellor and a supervisor on hand to offer Qualified Social Workers immediate help and support should the need arise.

Access to the UK’s top employers

As the largest and most successful specialist recruitment consultancy in the UK, Hays has links with a wealth of top employers. As a result we can offer you an unrivalled choice of assignments, in all key client groups and levels, within Local Authorities, the NHS, Voluntary and Charitable organisations and private care home providers throughout the country.

Expand your skills

As a professional in the social care industry it is vital that your skills and training are continually kept up-to-date. At Hays Social Care we understand that your professional development is important and we offer all our Qualified Social Workers a development bonus of £500, paid every six months whilst you are continually working for us. You can decide how to use this bonus as follows.

  • Take £500 in cash, paid into your bank with your wages at the end of each period.
  • Put £500 into a Continued Professional Development Fund (CPD) which can be used to pay for items such as books, training courses or event equipment.

Our Social Care and Support Workers are offered assistance with NVQ training and mandatory training. The aim is to ensure that all our workers meet CSCI requirements and can competently meet the needs of our clients.

Permanent employment

If you’re looking for a permanent role then keeping your skills sharp in a temporary role (even if not directly relevant to the type of permanent position you want) will make you more attractive to prospective employers. Experience shows that individuals in temporary roles have a significantly higher chance of being asked to attend interview than those spending their time outside the working environment.
