BCHA

BCHA was founded in 1968 by a number of churches in Bournemouth in order to make a contribution towards local housing problems. Since this date, BCHA has grown from strength to strength and is now a major provider of a diverse range of housing, support and learning services for socially excluded people. Based in Bournemouth, they deliver services from the New Forest down to the city of Exeter, and are now opening a hostel in Reading.

BCHA is a “Social Landlord” registered with the Housing Corporation and an Accredited Provider of “housing-related support” with the Bournemouth, Devon, Dorset and Poole Supporting People administering authorities. They are also participants in the iN Business for Neighbourhoods alliance, a national initiative led and supported by the National Housing Federation, which promotes the work of housing associations.

BCHA works in partnership with many statutory and voluntary organisations to provide a diverse range of services including:

  • Hostels and other projects for homeless people
  • Accommodation for ex-offenders
  • Refuges and outreach for women fleeing domestic violence
  • Drug and alcohol recovery projects
  • Mental health projects
  • Supported accommodation for young people
  • Floating Support services
  • New Deal programmes for jobseekers
  • Private sector accommodation leasing schemes

In order to be responsive to such a diverse range of clients BCHA recognise the need for well-trained and motivated staff. BCHA offers excellent training and development opportunities within an open and supportive environment.

BCHA have always been an energetic and progressive organisation that is committed to working towards rebuilding the lives of the people they work with. However, they also get involved in charitable work oversees, with a number of their team visiting Pondicherry in India to help rebuild the community, which Hays helped to sponsor.

Hays have had a strong relationship BCHA over a numbers of years and an understanding for their recruitment needs. We fill a consistent number of temporary relief shifts in their hostels on a weekly basis, as well as occasional management, customer services and property management posts based in their head office.
